Cu Chulainn is one of the playable Gods in SMITE.

Lore[ | ]

Thrice born child of Gods and Kings, Cú Chulainn is legend brought to life. A warrior without equal that, alone, held an army at bay; a man of will and courage that resisted both the allure and wrath of the Morrigan; a figure of tragic prophecy, destined for greatness and an early grave. So many legends are there of his achievements they could be spoken for days and yet still more be told. And yet throughout his triumphs, his death loomed constant, foretold and certain.

In his early years, while still bearing the name Sétanta, he was already an impressive individual, catching the attention of King Conchobar with feats of strength and agility. Conchobar invited the boy to a feast hosted by the smith, Culann. Left unchained by mistake, Culann's fearsome guard dog assailed Sétanta when he arrived. With only his bare hands, the boy defended himself and slew the beast. Ashamed, Sétanta swore to Culann he would personally train a new dog and would guard his home in the interim. Impressed, the druid Cathbad declared Sétanta would now be called the Cú Chulainn, the Hound of Culann.

This was the birth of a hero, but his death was yet bound in prophecy. Cathbad, the same druid that named him, promised a group of boys, “Any that take up arms this day will become legends.” Seeking greatness, Cú Chulainn raced off to find weapons before hearing more. He saw years of victory, of achieving the impossible, of becoming a legend before him. Cathbad, however, was devastated, for he knew that those that took up arms that day were also foretold to die young.

Abilities[ | ]

Passive - Berserk

	Cu Chulainn's Mana, MP5, and Mana Heals are applied to his Health pool. Abilities consume Rage, which stops regen at 25, but he gains Rage upon hitting with his Abilities as well as 1 Rage for Basic Attacks and .5 when he or allies take damage. After 2s above 85, he goes Berserk. While Berserk, Cu Chulainn gains Power and a Health Shield.		Notes: Berserk's progression is 1.05/1.05/1.5/ damage, speed and range of 16. Rage generation is calculated at the end of each ability. Basic attacks and abilities must deal at least 1 damage to generate any rage. Berserk form provides up to 40 Physical Power and 400 shield health (2 Physical Power and 40 shield health at level 1) at level 20. The transformation is canceled if you lose the required rage during the transformation phase. Rage resets to 25 when Cu Chulainn goes berserk or respawns.

	Cu Chulainn thrusts his spear forward, damaging all enemies in front of him and stunning less powerful minions. Successfully hitting an enemy minion with this ability restores 5 Rage, 8 for a god (to a max of 18). Barbs from his spear stick in opponents and reduce their healing received for 5s. In his Berserk Form, Cu Chulainn instead slams his massive arms down, damaging and rooting all enemies in front of him and this ability costs no Rage.		Notes:

	Cu Chulainn vents his anger as superheated steam, increasing his Movement Speed and draining his Rage. Every .5s while in this state, all enemies within range are damaged by the heat. Vent Anger does not return Rage. In his Berserk form, Cu Chulainn Vents Anger automatically and does not drain Rage.		Notes: It will still activate automatically at rank 1 during Berserk if no levels are put into it. Can deal up to 120/204/288/372/456 (+60% of your Physical Power) damage.

	Cu Chulainn vaults over his spear, leaping to a target location and slamming it down to damage enemies around and in front of him. Successfully hitting an enemy minion with this ability restores 5 Rage, 8 for a god (to a max of 18). In his Berserk Form, Cu Chulainn instead charges forward damaging, stunning and driving all enemies back with him and this ability costs no Rage.		Notes: Salmon's Leap has a line range of 20. Furious Charge's stun duration lasts 1s. Cu Chulainn is knockup immune while using Furious Charge and can act immediately after using the ability.

	Cu Chulainn swings his spear Gae Bulg in a circle around him, Damaging and Knocking Up all Enemies. Successfully hitting an enemy minion with this ability restores 10 Rage, 26 for a god (to a max of 36). In his Berserk Form, Cu Chulainn instead gives a terrifying yell, Damaging all Enemies and causing them to Tremble. This yell costs no Rage and has a 35s cooldown.		Notes: Cu Chulainn suffers a 20% Movement Speed Slow while channeling both abilities. Cu Chulainn is immune from crowd control effects while using this ability.

While working on fixing clarity issues with Cu Chulainn we noticed that the ability icon animation for abilities that can be leveled up versus channeling abilities were very similar.

This was more apparent with Cu Chulainn due to his Berserk state Vent Anger constantly channeling for the entire duration.

Berserk

Fixed an issue where an ability used right before Cu Chulainn's transformation into Berserk form would delay the transformation for a prolonged period of time.

You should now transform immediately after the ability animation is over.

Fixed an issue where an ability used right before Cu Chulainn's transformation into normal form would cause the normal form ability animation to play instead of the Berserk ability animation.

The Berserk form ability animation should correctly play before the immediate transformation back to normal form.

Fixed an issue where the Passive meter would not properly drain if Cu Chulainn uses an ability to stall his transformation.
Fixed an issue where Cu Chulainn did not say his Berserk VO Line in online matches. Should be noted that Cu Chulainn does not say any VO lines when he exits his Berserk form. This is intended.

Furious Charge

Added a small knockback at the end of this ability to help prevent situations where Cu Chulainn would move past the enemy at the end of the charge animation.
Fixed an issue where the stun during the charge was not applying for the correct duration.
