Experience (or XP) is a mechanic in SMITE that allows gods to level up, and grow stronger as the match progresses.

Description[ | ]

Much like Gold, experience can be obtained by killing enemy minions and gods, destroying objectives, and killing neutral monsters. Killing minions and monsters while there are allied gods nearby (a 80 unit radius from the slain enemy) will grant 120% of the xp value split evenly amongst all players (60% of the xp for each god with two players in range, 40% with three, 30% with four and 24% with all five).

Game modes like Arena have experience spooling, which grants a constant amount of experience on a regular basis.

The Conquest game mode features a unique mechanic called Support Bonus XP. After 2 minutes on the game clock have passed, the lowest level player on each team will receive a 35% increase to their shared XP (solo XP is unaffected). If the lowest level player on a team is disconnected, the bonus XP will move to the next lowest level player instead.

Accumulating a certain amount of experience will cause the god to level up. Leveling up provides a passive boost to that god's statistics and an additional skill point that can be used to learn or upgrade abilities. The higher a god's level is, the more experience they'll need to accumulate before they can level up again. Gods can level up to Level 20.

Different game modes have different starting levels:

  • Conquest has a starting level of 1
  • Arena, Joust and Slash have a starting level of 3
  • Assault has a starting level of 5
