BALANCE LIVE WITH THE 11.7 UPDATE
Game Modes
Medusa's Deathmatch
This fan favorite 3v3v3 adventure mode has finally made its return! Team up and survive the shrinking sandstorm, or conquer all in your path to claim victory!
- The HUD has been updated to be compatible with both the Classic and Updated HUD
- Kali, Persephone, and The Morrigan are banned from this mode
- Known Issues
- Team emblems in the top left corner and by player health bars may display the wrong team information
- Classic HUD users are not able to use the Tab Screen
Joust
Despite several heavy-handed adjustments in the past, Joust has remained a mode that is dominated by double tank compositions. Our goals are twofold: carries should come online faster and the mode provides more map-level options that support building damage.
Additionally, we want the Demon King to be more oriented around team play, so we have added new strategic elements in order to push it away from being purely solo-able.

Item Balance
Vampiric Shroud
This Magical offensive starter item has been the clear underdog of the three for a while now, so it’s time for a small increase in Power for that extra early game aggression.
- Increased Magical Power from 25 to 30
Blood-soaked Shroud
With the decrease in Max Health in 11.6, we wanted to give the less favorable Shroud upgrade an increase in Healing to compensate.
- Increased Passive Heal from 1% to 1.2% Maximum Health and Mana
Fighter's Mask
While this starter has struggled to find a place, we are giving it just a bit of extra Power to put it on even footing with other comparable items. Players will now really feel the bonus Damage Dealt as a true bonus, rather than having it as compensation.
- Increased Physical Power from 10 to 15
- Increased Magical Power from 15 to 25
Protector's Mask
Although Protector’s Mask has been a viable alternative for off-class Supports in the past, because it is considerably more expensive than the standard Support starter items, the characters who would normally buy them (who are now considerably less tanky) are also afforded less sustain via Potions in lane. A slight cost decrease will help to equalize that gap.
- Decreased Cost from 650 to 550
Warlock's Staff
Though we were hoping to see more of this item since the stacking rework earlier in the year, we recognize that it has failed to be the one-stop-shop for Magical Power and Health that we were hoping for. Now it is uncontestably the most Health on a single item in the entire game!
- Increased Health from 100 to 200
Ethereal Staff
This item has been underwhelming for quite a while now, so we’re rewarding players that are playing around their procs by allowing an additional stack of Health to be stolen, as well as letting those stacks persist for longer!
- Increased Buff Duration from 45s to 60s
- Max stack count increased from 3 to 4
Cannoneer's Cuirass
We want to really emphasize the economic aspect of this item and make it more worthwhile for players who want to try to min-max their gold earnings! Now players can buy it even sooner and get that gold flowing!
- Decreased Cost from 2000 to 1850
Arondight
As is typical for this age of experimentation, we are now allowing various Physical classes to purchase previously exclusive Arthurian items!
- Can now be purchased by Hunters
Fail-not
- Can now be purchased by Assassins and Warriors
Heavenly Wings
It’s time to go faster more often than before! This under-purchased Relic just needs a small bump, so we’re hoping it feels better than ever – especially when paired with a Relic Dagger!
- Decreased Cooldown from 130s to 120s
Greater Heavenly Wings
- Decreased Cooldown from 110s to 100s
Entangling Wings
- Decreased Cooldown from 110s to 100s
Cloak of Meditation
With the prevalence of anti-heal and the decrease of Health in 11.6, we wanted to provide a bit more Health sustain for players that choose to opt into the Healing and Cooldown oriented strategy.
- Increased Heal from 8 + 2% to 10 + 2.5% of your Missing Health
Greater Cloak of Meditation
- Increased Heal from 8 + 2% to 10 + 2.5% of your Missing Health
Cloak of the Ascetic
- Increased Heal from 20 + 3% to 25 + 3.5% of your Missing Health
Bracer of Radiance
In patches past, Bracer was once a mainstay of competitive play for Supports. However, between the several patches of nerf after nerf it received, it fell off quite hard. We want to give it just a little push rather than send it straight back to the top, so a small duration buff is going to help quite a bit!
- Increased Buff Duration from 6s to 8s
Greater Bracer of Radiance
- Increased Buff Duration from 6s to 8s
Bracer of Brilliance
- Increased Buff Duration from 6s to 8s
Divine Barrier
Divine Barrier has yet to find its place, so we’re giving it a slight QoL style buff to make it easier to use in the midst of battle!
- Increased Deploy Range from 30 to 55
Greater Divine Barrier
- Increased Deploy Range from 30 to 55
Blessed Barrier
- Increased Deploy Range from 30 to 55
RETURNING: Hastened Fatalis
Year 11 of Smite has been all about experimentation and giving long-time fans a wave of nostalgia! Hastened Fatalis is one of the most iconic items to ever be in SMITE, and now it’s making its triumphant return! We are aiming for this item to feel like a decently-priced luxury, but we also recognize that for a Haste effect to be relevant, the stats have also got to be up to snuff.
- Toxic Blade has been removed from the game
- Builds from Fatalis
- 2500g
- + 100 Health
- + 10 Penetration
- + 20% Attack Speed
- + 7% Movement Speed
- PASSIVE – Hitting an enemy with a Basic Attack grants Haste for 1s, causing you to be immune from Basic Attack Movement Penalty.
Fatalis
- Renamed from Defender’s Blade
- Builds from Ancient Blade
- 1400g
- + 75 Health
- + 5 Penetration
- + 10% Attack Speed
- + 5% Movement Speed
Ritual Blade
- Renamed from Cursed Blade
- Builds from Ancient Blade
- 1350g
- + 150 Health
- + 5% Movement Speed
- + 10% Cooldown Reduction
Lotus Sickle
- Now builds from Ritual Blade
Relic Dagger
- Now builds from Ritual Blade
RETURNING: Ichaival
With the return of Hastened Fatalis, we wanted to use it as an opportunity to consolidate the other “Hastened”-style effects into one multi-faceted item. However, that leaves quite a few open spaces in the item lineup… which means it’s time for some old favorites to make their comeback! Atalanta’s Bow is out and Ichaival is in! Ichaival was once the premiere early game boxing item for the Hunters who wanted to get active right out of the gate. We will not be returning it to its prior Tier 2-esque pricing scheme, but we want to make sure it feels worth it as a fully fledged Tier 3 slated item.
- Atalanta’s Bow has been removed from the game
- Builds from Hunter’s Bow
- 2200g
- + 20 Physical Power
- + 25% Attack Speed
- + 10 Physical Penetration
- PASSIVE – Every successful Basic Attack increases your Physical Power by 5, reduces your target’s Physical Power from items by 5, and reduces your target’s Magical Power from items by 10 for 5s. (Max. 4 Stacks)
RETURNING: Stone Cutting Sword
With Hastened Katana out of the picture, Stone Cutting Sword seemed like the most viable candidate to return to the hands of Assassins and Warriors. We understand that this item was a big proponent of what made hybrid-style Junglers strong, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on who is buying it and when to ensure that the Jungle maintains a healthy variety of viable gods.
- Hastened Katana has been removed from the game
- Builds from Thousand Fold Blade
- 2300g
- + 35 Physical Power
- + 7% Movement Speed
- PASSIVE – Melee Basic Attacks decrease enemy Physical Protection by 7, and increase your Physical Protection by 7 for 3s (max. 3 Stacks).
RETURNING: Ring of Hecate
Bye bye Hastened Ring – hello Ring of Hecate! We have noticed that Magical Carries have been struggling patch after patch, especially after the big TTK change in 11.6. One gap we have identified in their build path is a lack of flat Penetration, so we felt it made the most sense to grant this returning item a nice boost for extra early game prowess. We hope that with this change, Magical Carries will be able to keep up with the early game aggression we have been so excited to see!
- Hastened Ring has been removed from the game
- Builds from Mystic Ring
- 2400g
- + 55 Magical Power
- + 20% Attack Speed
- + 15 Magical Penetration
- PASSIVE – Each successful Basic Attack applies a hex to enemies and empowers you, increasing your Magical Power by 5% and reducing the Physical and Magical Power of your opponent by 5% for 5s. (Max. 3 Stacks).
NEW: Rebound Buckler
This new Tier 1 is the base of a brand new tree of some familiar sounding defensive items… will you long-time SMITE fans recognize them all?
- 600g
- + 100 Health
- + 10 HP5
NEW: Warded Shield
- Builds from Rebound Buckler
- 1200g
- + 150 Health
- + 35 Magical Protection
- + 15 HP5
RETURNING: Ancile
The first of the defensive items to be brought back is Ancile! This item was previously an early game staple against Magical gods that have solid channeling abilities. This iteration also gains a bit of aggression on the passive in order to make it feel right at home with the current climate of the Solo lane and beyond!
- Builds from Warded Shield
- 2200g
- + 200 Health
- + 45 Magical Protection
- + 20 HP5
- PASSIVE – Whenever you take Magical Damage from an enemy ability you unleash a shockwave that Silences all enemies within a range of 30 units for 1s. This effect cannot trigger more than once every 30s. While this effect is on cooldown, gain 20 Physical Power and 35 Magical Power.
NEW: Nemean Armor
- Renamed from Bronze Mail
- Builds from Rebound Buckler
- 1250g
- + 150 Health
- + 25 Physical Protection
- + 15 HP5
RETURNING: Hide of the Nemean Lion
Tank players rejoice, as it’s time for Hide of the Nemean Lion to once again take its place as a staple counterpick item against those pesky Basic Attackers. We will be closely monitoring the damage this item is dealing, as we understand the prior frustrations around this item are returning alongside it, but we are excited to see more specialized builds return!
- Builds from Nemean Armor
- 2450g
- + 200 Health
- + 50 Physical Protection
- + 20 HP5
- PASSIVE – Reflects 15% of all Basic Attack damage back to the attacker as Physical Damage.
NEW: Fortress Shield
- Builds from Rebound Buckler
- 1400g
- + 200 Health
- + 20 Physical Protection
- + 15 HP5
NEW: Shield of the Phoenix
While this item may have a brand new name, its passive seems mighty familiar… Like a phoenix, it will rise again from the item graveyard and make its triumphant return as a solid sustain option!
- Builds from Fortress Shield
- 2350g
- + 250 Health
- + 30 Physical Protection
- + 20 HP5
- + 10% Cooldown Reduction
- PASSIVE – Anytime you hit an Enemy god with an ability you are healed for 2% of your maximum Health and Mana. This can only trigger once per ability.
RETURNING: Shifter's Shield
Last but not least, it’s time to shift things up with the return of Shifter’s Shield! A very stat efficient item for the price, this Shield will allow you to feel able to aggress, then retreat when necessary!
- Builds from Fortress Shield
- 2400g
- + 300 Health
- + 30 Physical Protection
- + 30 Magical Protection
- + 20 HP5
- PASSIVE – While over 75% Health, you gain 30 Physical Power and 45 Magical Power. While under 75% Health, you gain 20 Protections.
Steel Crest
- Replaces Bronze Mail, retaining the same stats and passive
God Balance
Nerfs
Medusa
This sneaky snake has slithered her way to the top of the rankings in pick rate, win rate, and ban rate. As such, we’ve got to set her straight!
- Viper Shot
- Decreased Damage from 20/25/30/35/40 to 18/23/28/33/38
- Increased Cooldown from 10s at all ranks to 12/11.5/11/10.5/10s
- Acid Spray
- Decreased Damage from 105/160/215/270/325 + 85% to 100/155/210/265/320 + 80%
- Petrify
- Decreased Damage from 300/400/500/600/700 + 100% to 280/380/480/580/680 + 95%
- Increased Cooldown from 90s to 100s
Mulan
With several QoL changes for Mulan this year, she has been feeling better than ever to play! However, her statistics have been getting a bit too high compared to her peers in the Solo lane, so she’s taking quite a few nerfs to get her back in line.
- Spear Thrust
- Decreased Damage per hit from 100/140/180/220/260 to 100/135/170/205/240
- Decreased Bonus Damage from 20/30/40/50/60 to 10/20/30/40/50
- Grapple
- Increased Cooldown from 13s to 15/14.5/14/13.5/13s
- Divine Mastery
- Decreased Sword Damage from 80/140/200/260/320 to 80/130/180/230/280
Cu Chulainn
The Hound of Ulster’s early aggressive style is certainly very strong in a low TTK meta! As such, we’re taking down the damage of his core poke and engage tools, and taking their cooldowns up just a bit as well.
- Barbed Spear (Ground Slam)
- Decreased Damage from 85/145/205/265/325 to 80/140/200/260/320
- Increased Cooldown from 15/14/13/12/11s to 16/15/14/13/12s
- Spear of Mortal Pain (War Cry)
- Decreased Damage from 175/250/325/400/475 to 175/245/315/385/455
- Increased Cooldown from 100/95/90/85/80s to 105/100/95/90/85s
Nu Wa
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the pet proc changes, Nu Wa has risen through the ranks rather quickly, especially because of the adjustments to Magical Protections in 11.6. As such, that is the area we are focusing on nerfing, in addition to a small cooldown increase for her main poke tool.
- Clay Soldiers
- Decreased Protection Reduction per stack from 4/8/12/16/20 to 4/7/10/13/16
- Shining Metal
- Increased Cooldown from 8s to 9s
Janus
Janus has seen a surprising surge in popularity after the TTK adjustments, and masters of the God of Portals and Transitions have been poking their opponents much harder than they’re used to. As such, we’re bringing Janus’ damage and scaling down just a bit, as he is still a very skill-intensive character and generally remains low on the win rate scale.
- Unstable Vortex
- Decreased Damage from 110/175/240/305/370 to 100/165/230/295/360
- Threshold
- Decreased Scaling Bonus from 20/30/40/50/60 to 15/25/35/45/55
Agni
The God of Fire remains one of the safest and most consistent options out there for Mid laners, so we’re nerfing him just a bit across the board to make him more comparable to his opposition.
- Combustion
- Decreased Damage Scaling from 8% per tick to 6% per tick
- Flame Wave
- Increased Cooldown from 15/14/13/12/11s to 15/14.5/14/13.5/13s
- Rain Fire
- Decrease Damage from 140/180/220/260/300 + 65% to 135/175/215/255/295 + 60%
Geb
Surprisingly, this sturdy god has quickly climbed to the top of the leaderboards, mostly due to his Shields not being affected much by the TTK changes and his solid base damage. As such, we’re taking down the efficacy of those tools toward the late game, as Geb is much more geared towards hard carrying (in Support) from that time onward.
- Shock Wave
- Decreased Damage from 100/170/240/310/380 to 100/165/230/295/360
- Stone Shield
- Decreased Shield from 50/100/150/200/250 to 50/95/140/185/230
- Cataclysm
- Decreased Damage from 120/235/350/465/580 to 120/225/330/435/540
Bacchus
Despite his party animal nature, Bacchus may just be one of the most consistent Support picks out there! With a little bit of everything in his kit, this wine-drinking god has had just a bit too much to drink, so we’ve got to take him down a notch.
- Belly Flop
- Increased Cooldown from 14s to 15s
- Belch of the Gods
- Increased Cooldown from 12s at all ranks to 14/13.5/13/12.5/12s
Thanatos
Though Thanatos is always a pubstomping menace, it has become even more apparent how strong he is in the right hands with the TTK adjustments. Now that Health and Protections have gone down, his damage feels even more substantial, especially with his Death Scythe!
- Death Scythe
- Decreased Damage from 100/170/240/310/380 to 95/165/235/305/375
- Increased Cooldown from 12s at all ranks to 14/13.5/13/12.5/12s
- Scent of Death
- Decreased Penetration from 10/15/20/25/30 to 5/10/15/20/25
Thor
Another classic ranked carry, Thor’s viability relies on his ability to wombo combo backliners with his dunk. While we don’t want to outright remove his ability to perform that combo, we want to make him more vulnerable while doing so, and we want to make sure that carries have a little more time to react and fight back.
- General
- Decreased Base Health from 475 to 460
- Berserker's Barrage
- Increased Cooldown from 10s at all ranks to 12/11.5/11/10.5/10s
- Anvil of Dawn
- Decreased Damage from 100/165/230/295/360 +90% to 100/160/220/270/340 + 85%
- Decreased Arc Damage from 20/30/40/50/60 to 10/15/20/25/30
Buffs
Hades
Though Hades is quite good at controlling a lane, he falls off quite hard toward the late game. As such, we want to give him more frequent access to his strongest ability, making him more able to control team fights, or even get them started, should he choose to!
- Pillar of Agony
- Decreased Cooldown from 90s at all ranks to 90/85/80/75/70s
Chronos
It’s time for more Chronos buffs! In general, Magical Carries have been having a tough time, but Chronos has been seeing the worst of it. As a relatively immobile Mage with an Ultimate that takes quite some time to go off, he has been seeing quite a few more deaths than usual.
- General
- Increased Base Health from 400 to 425
- Increased Base Physical Protection from 11 to 13
- Accelerate
- Decreased Cost from 60/65/70/75/80 to 60 at all ranks
- Decreased Cooldown from 14s to 12s
Cabrakan
As a character who often pulls the ire of minions in the early game, Cabrakan has been taking way more damage than he’s been used to! As such, we want to give him a bit more early game utility, and additional survivability when being hit.
- Seismic Crush
- Decreased Cooldown from 16/15.5/15/14.5/14s to 14s
- Refraction Shield
- Increased Protections per stack from 2/3/4/5/6 to 4/5/6/7/8
Ymir
Ymir freeze you, then smash you like a pancake! Ymir feel even tougher than before, too!
- Frostbite
- Increased Damage Dealt Debuff from 10% to 15%
- Frost Breath
- Decreased Cooldown from 16/15.5/15/14.5/14s to 14s at all ranks
Yemoja
Though this goddess has previously seen excessive nerfs due to her extreme performance in the absolute top end of competitive play, we feel confident that in the current meta, it’s finally time to give her a little help.
- Omi
- Increased Basic Attack Healing per level from 0.2 to 0.4
- Riptide
- Increased Slow from 10% to 15%
- River's Rebuke
- Decreased Cooldown from 140s at all ranks from 140/135/130/125/120s
Fafnir
Despite a couple of major adjustments to Fafnir’s kit, he did not rise in the rankings all too much. We’re giving him more flexibility with how often he’s able to Coerce his allies, and who isn’t getting hyped for an extra 20 seconds in dragon form at rank 1!
- Coerce
- Decreased Cooldown from 16s at all ranks to 16/15.5/15/14.5/14s
- Draconic Corruption
- Increased Duration from 20/30/40/50/60s to 40/45/50/55/60s
Erlang Shen
Ever since our adjustments to Erlang Shen when he was dominant in the meta, he hasn’t felt the same to play. We hear you, and we want to give him that fun game loop back. This knockup will be slightly lower than what he previously had in order to minimize frustration from the opponent’s perspective, but still allow Erlang to combo off and play his iconic style!
- 72 Transformations
- The Turtle form now Knocks enemy gods up on hit
Chaac
Though Chaac may be perceived as an early game god, his stats would indicate that he is not doing well in the point of the game where he should be the strongest. A couple all-round buffs should help him out in the early game while allowing him to more smoothly transition into the late game.
- Thunder Strike
- Increased Damage from 90/150/210/270/330 to 100/160/220/280/340
- Rain Dance
- Decreased Mana Cost from 75/80/85/90/95 to 75 at all ranks
- Storm Call
- Increased Damage from 300/350/400/450/500 to 300/360/420/480/540
Nox
While Nox may not be performing the best in all roles, she is performing significantly worse when built damage. We want to give her a couple of small offensive-oriented buffs across the board for those who wish to play that specific style.
- Flame of the Night
- Increased Magical Power per stack from 3% to 5%
- Siphon Darkness
- Increased Damage Scaling from 100% to 110%
- Shadow Step
- Decreased Mana Cost from 90 at all ranks to 75 at all ranks
Set
Though Set has previously been a mainstay of high level play, he has fallen off quite drastically in ranked and especially casuals. As such, we want to give players more opportunities to make sick plays with Kingslayer, all while giving them a small bump in Attack Speed from Relentless.
- Relentless
- Increased Attack Speed per stack from 2.5% to 3%
- Kingslayer
- Decreased Cooldown from 90s at all ranks to 90/85/80/75/70s
Maman Brigitte
With the adjustment to Maman’s item proccing on Party Trick, there was an unintended consequence that caused her to heal and sustain significantly less from items like Bumba’s Dagger and Vampiric Shroud that made it extremely difficult to sustain in jungle or lane. We are only adjusting the heal to find a better happy medium.
- Party Trick
- Increased Healing from item procs from 25% to 100%
Izanami
While one might imagine this goddess would be thriving in an early game oriented meta, Izanami unfortunately has fallen quite far behind. We’re giving her a bump to the Penetration from her Passive, as well as bumping the duration of the Silence of Dark Portal. We want players to feel rewarded for hitting it!
- Death Draws Nigh
- Increased Penetration per stack from 3% to 4%
- Dark Portal
- Increased Silence Duration from 1.5/1.65/1.8/1.95/2.1s to 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5s
Nut
Nut has been fairly balanced since her release, but because her mobility is so limited, her survivability has fallen quite a lot ever since the TTK changes. We want to give her just a small amount of help in the damage department, and additional early game assistance when it comes to her maneuverability.
- Crashing Comet
- Increased Damage from 35/55/75/95/115 to 45/65/85/105/125
- Warp
- Decreased Cooldown from 14/13.5/13/12.5/12s to 12s at all ranks
Ratatoskr
hough Assassins are generally performing quite well, surprisingly Ratatoskr is not amongst them. We hope that you all go nuts for these Acorn buffs!
- Acorn of Yggdrasil
-
- Increased Physical Power from 15 to 20
- Increased Heal from 2% to 3% of Maximum Health
- Increased Physical Power from 35 to 40
- Increased Heal from 2% to 3% of Maximum Health
- Increased Physical Power from 35 to 40
- Increased Heal from 5% to 6% of Maximum Health and Mana
- Increased Physical Power from 15 to 20
- Increased Physical Power from 40 to 45
- Increased Physical Power from 40 to 45
Ra
With Summer in full swing, the sun is at its full strength! Ra has been fairly negatively affected by the TTK changes as a relatively immobile mage. Though he may be speedy, it has not helped him escape the fact that his base Health pool is rather low.
- General
- Increased Health per level from 68 to 71
- Divine Light
- Increased Damage Scaling from 60% to 70%
- Solar Blessing
- Decreased Cooldown from 15s at all ranks to 15/14.5/14/13.5/13s
NEW GOD SKIN VOICE ACTORS
- Court Archer Cupid: Aimee Smith
- Court Charmer Aphrodite: Emma Onasch
- High Honor Mulan: Crystal Lee
- Summer Fun Medusa: Farah Rishi
- Mr. Squish Ymir: Andrew Wheildon
